Circuits- A Love Love Relationship
I love circuit training because:
1. You get 2-3 body areas in at once
2. Its quick
3. You’re toning with weights
4. You get your heart rate up because you don’t stop until you are DONE!
5. You can do them in your living room and don’t have to go to the gym!
My favorite body areas to work together are legs/glutes and shoulders because my legs are the hardest place for me to keep tone and nothing is prettier than tone shoulders. I almost always do abs regardless of what body area I do.
So here’s one of my favorite leg/glute/shoulder with abs circuits. Most of them have pics for ya!
Repeat each round 3-4 times depending on your fitness level and/or time
Regular squat (for more intensity add a knee raise at the end) X 10-15
Shoulder press X 10-15
Russian Twists for 30 seconds
Stationary lunge X 10-15
Lateral Raises X 10-15
High Knees for 30 seconds–Run in place bringing knees up as high to your chest as possible
Dead lift-Lower the dumbbells straight down, pause for a second then stand back X 10-15
Upright rows –Stand holding dumbbells in front of your thighs. Raise both dumbbells until your arms are parallel to the ground, pause for a second then lower back to starting position X 10-15
Twisting side planks X 10-15 each side
My hips are actually slightly low in the first image–for the best form my hips should be slightly higher. The side plank with elbow is a great modification as well. Just turn your body the opposite direction so that you end up on your opposite arm. Your feet should roll over each other. If you have a bad back this isn’t a great exercise for you!
